Michael Schwartz Presents: Brugal Maestro’s Dinner With Chef Danny Peñalo From Yarumba

Amara & Friends 4th installment on August 30 was a special Maestro’s Dinner collaboration with the series rum partner Brugal. 

The featured Dominican chef was Chef Danny Manuel Peñalo who is recognized for promoting Dominican gastronomy. He is the executive chef and co-owner of the prestigious restaurant “Yarumba” praised as the best Dominican restaurant in South Florida.

Gabriel Urrutia is a rum connoisseur, consultant and author, who brings his passion and
drive to everything he does. Born in Miami to a Cuban mother and Chilean father, Gabriel
takes great pride in his dual heritage and upbringing. As Brugal ambassador, Gabriel uses
his creativity and expertise to connect people, create events, and help contribute to the
brand’s legacy.

The evening began with welcoming sounds by a live guitarist and delicious bites of Jumbo Lump Crab, Potato Pavé, Goat Croquette And Smoked Mussels. Guests then enjoyed Avocado Salad,
Cured Hamachi Crudo, Fired Grilled Pork Tenderloin, finishing off with a delicious Dominican Cake made with meringue, pineapple and Brugal 1888. Each course had a special Brugal cocktail pairing curated by Gabriel and the evening was concluded with rave reviews!

The event was co-hosted with Hispanic community leader Marvin Tapia, with 10% of all ticket proceeds from the dinner series going towards Viernes Culturales, a non-profit dedicated to promoting and preserving Hispanic and Latinx arts and culture in Miami’s historic Little Havana neighborhood.
